The Össur Symbionic Leg and it's available parts are at the cutting edge of Limb Replacements.​

Work had previously been done in this field, but with the symbiotic leg, users can have considerably more comfort in walking and moving. The reason is that in each leg and foot there are a variety of processors and sensors they constantly read and adapt to both the environment and the motion of the user. The foot also has a motorized angle that can simulate muscle extremely well.

 

The other innovation of Össur is their Power Knee, which is exactly like it sounds. The knee has a battery powered knee motor and processor that can simulate real muscle movement in the lower leg. This allows for seamless walking, climbing, and more that was previously very hard for most amputees.

This technology is available right now, and Össur are constantly working to improve their designs. It is rumored that they are working on a prosthetic leg that will be considerably more powerful than a real human leg.
